    About Me

I was born and raised in the Great Pacific Northwest, on a small, family farm (think Old MacDonald) north of Seattle. I developed a love of the outdoors, a natural curiosity, and a passion for adventure that has guided me to this day.

In high school I excelled in math, sciences, and computer programming (and still do), and after a career trip to Boeing, I decided that I wanted to be an Aerospace Engineer (and maybe one day a pilot). I pursued engineering in my first year and a half of university before discovering that I was even stronger in business related courses, and I graduated with a Business Degree.

And this is where my curiosity and passion for adventure take center stage and led me on professional endeavors in unexpected and exciting ways.

A month after receiving my diploma, I was on a plane to a small island kingdom in the South Pacific — Tonga — where I served as a business development advisor in the Peace Corps. In addition to putting my recent business education to work in a developing country, I gained invaluable experience in cultural awareness and communication skills. It was also where I discovered a developing talent and passion for photography.

Upon returning home to the US, I was excited to continue the path of adventure and travel and started work on the American Orient Express, a luxury train that operated like a cruise ship on rails across North America. The general manager recognized my strong work ethic, excellent customer relations, and a great potential in my management ability, and recruited me to be the Hotel Manager for the following season. Under the mentorship of that general manager (a Master Thai Chef and consultant to 5 star hotels), I gained invaluable experience in management and service, and helped improve the guest satisfaction to new highs. I also continued to pursue my passion for photography while traveling to some of the most beautiful destinations across North America.

In one of those unexplained coincidences of fate, my passion for photography collided with my childhood dream of becoming a pilot when I found a job as an aerial photographer for a small company that conducted traffic surveys for state and regional DOT's across the country. While starting as an aerial photographer, I quickly put my management and problem-solving skills to work to become the Director of Flight Operations (and an integral business manager), and helped enable a doubling of revenue within a few short years.

With over a decade of business management experience and a fully realized passion and talent for photography, I decided to take a huge risk and start my own photography business. This decision preceded the economic collapse of 2008 by a few months, but I diversified my services and persevered through some of the most challenging professional experiences of my life to create a vibrant business with an incredibly loyal clientele.

A move back to the Great Pacific Northwest provided the next professional adventure as a photography client introduced me into the construction industry. Suddenly I was putting my business and management experience together with my problem-solving skills to manage high-rise tower construction projects.

In my spare time I still love to get out in the great outdoors, and take on the occasional photography project.

The next chapter and adventure is still waiting to be written!
